My So Called Life

All the random ass shit that happens. Read at your own risk.

Day-to-day dispatches from a life that is technically ordinary and somehow never boring. Work problems, relationship observations, aging indignities, boundary violations, and the occasional moment of genuine clarity that makes all the rest of it worth it. The catch-all category for everything that doesn't fit neatly anywhere else — which, honestly, describes most of real life.

    Summer is Coming

I have been on a movie binge of late. Maybe I am shaking the dust off and getting back to the movies after the long sabbatical at home? Last night we went to the opening of Iron Man. It all adds up.

My patience is finite, and its limits are being tested today. First, my son loses his mind the instant he happens to overhear me say that he will be able to go to a friend’s house to play as soon as he is done with his math… So how is it that math skills that he possessed yesterday are suddenly non-existent as he proceeds to add 25 cents and 25 cents to get 26 cents? He then looks at me expectantly like “isn’t that correct?”. WTF?
