My So Called Life

Ice Ice Bucket

How to complain about the effects of an event caused by a charity that was for a good cause without sounding like a cold hearted snake? Impossible. So here goes!

I loathed the ice bucket challenge. Thankfully it appears that the start of school has given people something other than themselves to focus on. Only 1 ice bucket challenge video in the last three days on my facebook feed/wall. That’s better than it was.

What was the fucking point? From my perspective it seemed to serve as nothing but as an opportunity for the people I have as friends on Facebook to provide me with reasons to like them even less. Where’s the unlike button when I need it? Because the multitude of videos of “not so much ice but more actually just water” buckets being dumped over themselves deserved a big hefty thumbs down. I was having none of it and I’m glad no one “nominated” me because I wanted no part of that media circus.

I have never seen more people participate to actively avoid giving money to charity and instead self-promote, ever. I was apalled. Besides, how big a challenge is it to dump water over your head in the hottest part of the SUMMER? A challenge would have been to convince these same aholes to dump the ice over their heads while outside and capture it on video in the middle of winter. That would have been a true test of someone’s mettle and really forcing them to choose carefully when yielding to social pressure about supporting a charity.

Conclusion: I hate people.
